Over the years St James has developed a sharing ministry which encourages as many of the congregation as possible to share their gifts in the ministry of the church.

St James was very fortunate to have the late Margaret Cundiff within its congregation. Margaret was an ordained Associate Minister and a well-known author and broadcaster who was very much involved in services and pastoral care. We also have three Lay Readers who play an active and important part in the life of the church.

St James enjoys a developing prayer life which is encouraged by an active prayer ministry team providing prayer ministry during the morning communion services and after morning worship. The team will also make arrangements to pray on request and prayer chains are set in motion when the occasion arises. The team do train and pray together supporting other initiatives and looking for ways to develop this important ministry.

Baptisms are one way of reaching out into the wider community. It is important that those who bring children to baptism understand as much as possible the promises that they are to make. To assist this and to help us as a church to welcome these families we have a small baptism preparation team who will visit the families in their home before the service, who will encourage families to come to other services in advance of the baptism and welcome them on the actual day.
